Mark Jarzebowski appointed to Victoria.NET

As a result of the merger of AusDev.NET, MDNUG and Victoria.NET Mark Jarzebowski has been appointed to the management commitee of Victoria.NET.

Mark has also been elected the Junior Vice President.

 

Mark Presents Guest Lecture to RMIT IT Masters Students

Mark Jarzebowski was invited as a guest lecturer to speak to students of the Business IT Masters course at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

The subject of Mark's lecture was "An Experienced Developers Perspective on the IT Industry". This is the third time that mark has given the guest lecture and it was interesting to see how many of his past preditions and views have come to fruition. Mark also pointed out a couple of areas where he had been wrong.

 

Australian Developers.NETwork and Melbourne DotNet User Group Merge

Mark Jarzebowski is the president of the Australian Developer.NETwork (formerly the Australian Visual Basic User Group) AusDev.NET and the Melbourne DOTNET User Group have merged under the banner of the Victoria.NET industry cluster to create a new super user group the Victorian.NET User Group.

Mark continues his user group work as a coordinator of VDNUG and frequent presneter.

 

Breakfast with Bill Gates

When Bill Gates was in Australia in 2004 Mark Jarzebowski was invidted to attend a small breakfast session where Bill Gates outlined his and Microsoft's vision of computing into the future.

Mark was able to ask Bill about why we had not made the progress in efficiency in software developement that we had in other areas of  IT. Bill's answer was suprisingly detailed and insightful.

 

BMS Wins Software Award

BMS wins Australian specific category of The Small Business Show's Brother Business Software Award's, Nine Network Australia for Australia Post's MailRoom (the mail accounting and dispatch system).

MailRoom was provided to Australia Post major customers over a period of 7 years - a very long lived software product indeed. Especially considering that the initial system was developed as prototype over a 3 month period.
